“On Sept 10, 25 church leaders were introduced to how they
can benefit from SLM materials. Each of them went back with samples
of lessons for children, youth and adults they can use in their
churches. They were so grateful as they testified that this is the
first time they have attended a program that has given them materials
to use.”
Ivory Coast: Praise
God with Bello Johnson that from July –

Kenya: BLESS GOD
for His leading as Jack Stiles and Glenn Dix
visited Ethiopia with an Ethiopian man, Haile Selasie Tefera, who
lives here in Madison, Georgia. Haile wants to reach the people in
his home country. Praise that 1) 2 courses were selected for
translation into Amharic, and a printer was selected; 2) a meeting
was held with pastors and lay leaders interested in SLM-Ethiopia.
Genet Kassahun will be the office manager of the new
office in Addis Ababa. Please continue to pray for God to use Haile
to convince government officials that SLM will address some of the
social needs of the country; he remained in Ethiopia for this
purpose..
TESTIMONY: “My name is Naboth Owiti from Kibos School
for the Blind. My problem of not seeing clearly started during my
childhood. That made my parents bring me to this school. I have had a
lot of thoughts: why me alone brought to the school while my brothers
and sisters are left to school and stay with parents? But one day I
got the answer. There is a purpose for everything. When I came to the
school I didn’t know Jesus, but now I know Him, while my
brothers and sisters at home are not saved. There was a purpose for
me to come3 to Kibos school to meet my Lord and Saviour, Jesus
Christ.”
Liberia: Director
Sampson Hinneh writes: “I want to thank our
many sponsors and supporters for getting funds to us to continue the
good work of spreading Christianity throughout Liberia. We are really
in need of Bible lessons and Bibles to reach into every corner of
Liberia. SLM is in collaboration with other Christian groups who are
having a nationwide prayer for the country for God to give us good
and God-fearing leaders…It is in this light I am kindly asking
members of SLM to please remember Liberia in their daily prayer for a
good leader.” Please pray that Bible lessons will
get to Sampson in Liberia for his use – this is a vital and
urgent need.
Nigeria:
Please continue to pray for Sanya and Bosun Dosunmu as
they need funds to move the DTC office from Lagos to Abeokuta. Thank
God for a report recently received from Pastor David Ajayi who
participated in the Discipleship Training in February. He is
continuing to conduct 6 discipleship groups through his church.
Togo/Benin: Benin
Director Sika Yao reports that the LDM courses continue
to bring people to Jesus Christ. Recently, an unmarried couple, who
were living together, were convicted by the courses to separate;
please pray for their salvation. Prayer is also requested for: 1)
seminary to be conducted in BENIN in October, and perhaps at the end
of October in TOGO 2) for land and finances for a church building 3)
for God to provide a car 4) for the tense political situation in
Togo.
South Africa:
Praise God with Fanie Buys for God’s continued
expansion of the SLM work in different parts of South Africa. In
Strand: a woman named Rita uses her pension money to buy lessons that
she distributes to schools. Many receive Christ as Saviour! In
Hopetown: Helena, who works fulltime, leads Bible Study groups and
started her own DM. Quellerina Mission reaches people in prison. The
DTC correspondence school enrolls about 6,000 students. Fanie asks
prayer for his plan to close up an area of their home to house both
the volunteer workers and the stock in one area. Funds are needed for
this. Increased finances, increased materials and increased personnel
are needed for this rapidly-expanding ministry.
Uganda: Thanks be
to God for Aloni Mwisaka and the SLM work, especially
among the Muslims. Ask God to continue to supply every need for Aloni
and his family.
