ASIA REGION

       India (Amar Jyoti India): Beseech God for His blessing on the upcoming U.S. visit of director Pramod Das and his wife, Asha, and daughter, Priya. They arrive on October 17. Ask God for wisdom in setting up many meetings in the U.S. for Pramod to speak at churches and share the AJI work. Also, please pray for a Leadership Training Camp to be conducted Nov 10-14 for 25 AJI missionaries.

       SLM- Calcutta: Director Karunakar Jena is blessing the Lord for the recent dedication of the new SLM-Calcutta building on Aug 30. Let’s continue to pray for the last $5,000 needed by Sept 29 to pay for the painting of the building Karunakar asks prayer for new Muslim converts in Murshidabad. There is much persecution.

SLM – Delhi: Give thanks with Sanjeeb Sahu for their 4^th Leadership Conference in Shimla in Himachal Pradesh from Sept 26-30 for 30 leaders. Sanjeeb reminds us that north and west India is the least evangelized in the country. He praises God for supplying the finances at the last minute, as he considered canceling the meeting. Note the photo and encouraging testimonies:

“I only used to read the NT and also used to share from the NT only. After attending this meeting, I realized that I need to read the Old Testament also. Without reading the OT, I cannot teach from the NT properly.” – Hemraj

“I never got an opportunity like this to attend a meeting. The place where I stay is totally non-Christian environment and I always had fear to share the Word of God to anybody. Now I have learned so many things and I believe I will have the boldness to share God’s Word to others. Very beautiful teaching was given on the OT which I did not know before.” – Prashant

“I never expected I will learn so much from the Bible here. I have now learned how to live a Christian life and how I can witness to others about Christ.” – Sonu

“This meeting has really helped to know many things from the Bible. Another thing I learned is that I have to teach from the OT to other believers.” – Pappu

       SLM-Bangalore: Director Hemanth Peter reports God’s marvelous blessings the past 12 months in the ministry: 1) 4 seminars were conducted on “Satan and his Strategies,” and many were delivered from the traps of the devil 2) Gospel meetings in Hyderabad resulted in 30 trusting Christ and 150 rededicating their lives to the Lord 3) Preaching at 6 conventions with 2000 in attendance brought 470 precious souls to Christ 4) a Bible college was started (evenings) and now has 26 students. Please pray for: 1) my health: my cholesterol rose over 600 2) $1200 for a motorbike 3) $120/month for 5 new evangelists.

       Philippines: Rejoice with Director Dr. Luz Nacionales that preparations are underway for PhilSOL’s 4^th Anniversary in Muntinulpa men’s prison in Manila. 763 inmates have received Christ! 2,154 lessons have been distributed. Pray for Dexilie and Pastor Red for this event on Oct 29.The prison has offered PhilSOL a lot for a building to house PhilSOL’s ministry in the prison (because of appreciation for their fine work). Pray for finances for this building, and for God to make a way to bypass the corrupt prison officials who are asking for bribes before they will sign the documents for the building. Praise God with Pastor and Virgie Espinas as 1) 90 volunteer teachers in Mindinao have received SLM materials and training for use in public and Sunday schools. 21,000 students are already enrolled! 2) many mountainous areas of Mindinao have been reached; a real breakthrough! Please pray for a new truck for the Espinas family as their old one is broken down.

       Japan: Director Takuji Yamazaki is rejoicing in the 5^th Anniversary Celebration on August 21, followed by a Discipleship Training class for the Bible college students Aug 22-27. Praise God with Takuji for a very recent answer to prayer: God just provided a new SLM DTC office for the work! A member of Takuji’s Toyohashi Grace Baptist Church donated a 5-room “apartment/house” which is right next door to the Yamazakis’ residence. Please ask God now for office equipment ($5,000) and monthly funds of $300 for maintenance and utilities.

       Singapore: Director Florence Lim praises God for the new members of the Executive Council and their recent meeting. She also requests prayer for 1) the wife and family of teacher Mr. Alfred Kum went Home to be with the Lord recently 2) preparations for their 5^th Anniversary Celebration in December and 3) their online Bible course ministry which is expanding.

       Korea: Please uphold Paul and Sue Bahn and the SLM-Korea Board as they seek to re-establish the SLM work in Korea. Pray for needed funds and materials.

       Bangladesh: Bless God for the completion of the first Muslim Bengali course, New Life 1, translated in Bangladesh and the CD mailed to Cuttack, India where it will be printed by SLM personnel. Let’s pray many Muslims in India and in Bangladesh will be won to Christ and strengthened through the course.

       China: TO GOD BE THE GLORY!! SLM-HQ just received word that a Christian foundation has donated

all $100,000 for the “China Printing Project.” Bless the Lord, O my soul! Please pray now for 1) God’s wisdom and direction on what courses to print with the additional funds 2) a capable translator for the Love/Dating/Marriage course into Mandarin. There is a real need for this. Psalm 92:1, 4!

       Cambodia: Earnestly pray as work resumes at the end of August on the English/Khmer NL-1 course. Ask God for the soon completion, and distribution of this course where the Gospel is rapidly advancing in Cambodia.
