  • USA – SLM Headquarters: Congratulations to Dr. Bill Shade who was named the General Director of SLM in September at the SLM Board meetings. Bill was previously the Interim Director. We bless God that $25,000 of the $45,000 “SLM – HQ :Renovation Fund” has been supplied.

  • Give thanks to God that pre-fielders Brian and Gwenda Trapp will be returning to the Congo in January! Please pray for a good re-adjustment for their 2 daughters, ages 9 and 6. Please continue to pray for our pre-fielders who are raising support to join SLM: Ken and Carla Wills, Mary Hines, Don and Elaine Schiffer, Les and Pat Fox, Dave and Debbie Shoemaker. Pray especially for Debbie’s sister, 38 year old Mindy Foltz, who was recently diagnosed with cancer. She will start radiation and chemotherapy treatments this week on her spine.

Alternative Media: Director Ben Watson reports that three copies of NL-1 in Braille were sent to Ghana in October for the Akrapong School for the Blind; other courses will arrive via container soon. A copy of NL-2 in French Braille will go to Niger on November 21. Braille courses were sent to Ghana, Togo, Niger and Kenya this year. Please pray for Ben as he transcribes NL-2 and BBT in English. Praise God! Ron Winsek of Interactive Advantage, will be working with Alternative Media to develop courses in interactive CD and internet versions. Ask God for wisdom as Ben and others work through the multitude of options.

  • International Discipleship Training Center (IDTC) – New SLM Board member, Mr. Lionel Valentine, and Pat Dye traveled to Ghana, West Africa on Oct 24-Nov 8 to teach in the National Discipleship Conference organized by SLM Director, Daniel Sappor. They stayed on an additional week to conduct a “Discipleship Training Institute” for 10-12 pastors and SLM workers at the SLM Office in Accra. Praise God for the tremendous conferences and response from the men. God’s Spirit ministered to the pastors to edify them about their “identity IN CHRIST” (the theme of the week), leading them to greater personal victory over sin. The men were excited to continue the DTI and are planning to conduct a second DTI the first week in Feb 2006 under Rev. Sappor’s direction. A testimony from one of the pastors:

For the past weeks I have been angry, bitter and even said some things that look like I am Jonah waiting to see the people of Nineveh perish…I was so bitter and angry I let some of our church members know what was happening (in a certain situation). Incidentally, nobody applied the Word of God…but joined in the condemnation. Having applied the truth of our lessons in my life…I found myself being relieved of all bitterness, anger, frustration, disappointments, etc. Yesterday, Nov.3rd,was my birthday and I used the occasion to send a message of forgiveness. It is amazing how my understanding of my position in Christ is affecting many areas of my life…I have used the method to disciple some friends in the U.S.A. over the internet. Praise God! Certainly Galatians 2:20 and Romans 6:1-22 have helped me this week not only to become a better Christian, but to share the truth of God’s Word to other people.”

Medical Updates: Bless the Lord that Gil Busenitz is feeling very well, and working part-time at the mission. Let’s keep praying for complete healing. Debbie Gillis had her last chemotherapy treatment and is doing very well – praise the Lord! She is now undergoing radiation treatments. Gene Smith recently underwent cancer surgery, and is doing well; his liver transplant of 2004 looks good.

“Dear Father, I thank you for these wonderful servants of Yours that by doing Your will bring Your holy words of truth to people such as myself who otherwise would not be able to get the words of truth…I pray You continue to bless them and their families so they may continue Your will in sowing Your seed to produce Your fruit. Two men from Guatemala in their 40s took NL-3, lesons 1-3. Freddie experienced the new birth.
