  • Bolivia: Director Miguel Sanchez appreciates your prayers for their recent missionary trip throughout Bolivia and for the progress of the SLM work in these rural regions where they traveled. He also asks prayer for his wife’s health and that his children may continue to walk with the Lord. Praise God for the new SLM ministry in Trinidad Beni.

  • Brazil: Director Jim Leonard and family have just returned to Brazil after a 5-month furlough and are praising the Lord for 1) $ 10,000 for the construction of the New Jerusalem Baptist Church building, and sufficient funds to complete the roof on the auditorium of the Source of Light Baptist Church 2) a recent evangelistic campaign among religious pilgrims in the city of Juazeiro de Norte. Faculty and students from their college distributed 80,000 Gospel tracts; 86 people made professions of faith in Christ. See picture below:

Please pray for: 1) Julie and Jennifer who will participate with a church for the deaf on Sunday afternoons 2) Jim to start a Bible study for neighborhood teens saved as children 4 years ago 3) new co-workers, Andrew and Itacyara Comings, that they will remain focused on God’s plan for their lives as they make adjustments to Brazilian society.

  • Chile: Continue to uphold the Salazars in their very busy pastoral and SLM work. Ask God to enable them to reach many in the south, and other unreached areas. Praise God for the recent baptisms of several prison inmates as you can see in the picture included:

  • Guatemala: We praise the Lord for Bob and Wanda McRae who are undertaking the revitalization of the SLM DTC in Guatemala. I know they would appreciate your prayers as they print a great volume of courses for distribution. The McRaes served many years under AMG International in Guatemala.

  • Guyana: Give thanks with Winston Abel that God has enabled SLM to distribute food, clothing, etc. needed by churches and associate schools. Winston asks for prayer for finances to begin an SLM radio broadcast to counteract the doctrinal confusion in the country.

  • Haiti: Uphold the Spaldings as the church prays and seeks a Haitian pastor, and for Art as he continues to share the ministry of SLM with so many pastors. Ask God to provide 10,000 copies of all the SLM lessons annually to Haiti, as the demand is so great. The Spaldings appreciate your prayers that their 2 boys will desire to study for at least a year in a Bible college upon graduation.

Please pray for: 1) the containment of violence in the country and for wisdom for the government 2) for increased funding which is needed to expand the work 3) the financial needs of the bookstore and strategic decisions that must be made 4) provision of personnel with specific skills 5) improvement in George Webster’s health

  • Mexico: Manuel and Ruth Lopez report they did not get involved in relief work from Hurricanes Stan and Wilma this time because most of the destruction was further from them, and their van was out of commission for about a month. They praise God for a good conference in La Union although the roads were quite a mess. Please continue to pray for the children’s health and spiritual growth.
