Dr. Bill Shade began serving in faith missionary work in 1956, after completing training at Philadelphia College of Bible (now Philadelphia Biblical University), and Wheaton College, Ill. In that same year he began associate work with Scripture Memory Mountain mission in Southeastern Kentucky where he regularly visited 10,000 teenagers in seven counties through the high school assembly program. He continued that work for eight years while at the same time he pastored McRoberts Missionary Baptist Church, in McRoberts Kentucky.

In 1964 Dr. Shade moved to York, Pennsylvania, where he founded and directed the Grace and Truth Evangelistic Association. He became active in radio and television, evangelistic campaigns, and camp/conference ministries. In 1975 he founded Camp of the Nations in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He also founded the Wayside Maternity Home for unwed mothers.

In 1975 Dr. Shade, along with Dr. Leonard Smith and Dr. Gerald Stover began development of materials for use in establishing a Bible institute program in local churches, which became known as World-Wide Bible Institutes. WWBI is now a part of the ministry of Source of Light Int.

In 1996, Dr. Shade and his wife Ruby, joined the ministry of Source of Light where he later directed the Department of WWBI. During the intervening years, the Shades also taught in India at the Bharat Bible College and ministered in many areas across the India sub-continent.

Since 2005, Dr. Shade has served asĀ  General Director of the worldwide ministry of Source of Light Int.
