Pray ye therefore the Lord of the Harvest
that he will send forth laborers into his harvest.

Alaska DTC – Directors Don and Rose Nabinger report many encouraging events, especially from Cheryl Reichman with the Seward Seamans Mission. She reports: “A young man from Romania accepted Christ this spring. Another man from the Philippines, Steve (in his 30s) came every night, then accepted Christ and took lessons in Tagalog. Two men from Guatemala in their 40s took NL-3, lesons 1-3. Freddie experienced the new birth. Spanish lessons were given to some…A man from Indonesia, saved in 2000, is back and received lessons earlier this season. He is now on #14! He wants to teach young people back home. ‘I want to be a pastor,’ he said. Monang, from a heavy Muslim area, wants the ‘right church.’ Cheryl says, “God is bringing the world to us!”

Argentina:BLESS GOD! Director Jorge Ovando reports the following praises: 1) following intensive prayer for the city of Lujan, many more people attended church services 2) in an intensive discipleship session from 9/23-9/25 many new believers were delivered from demonic possession 3) 14 teenagers received Christ on 10/1 and on the same day 50,000 Gospel tracts were distributed with invitations to enroll in the SLM courses (the event was 1.7 million youths who gathered at a Catholic shrine 4) from Oct-Nov, 2 new congregations will be formed in the towns of Torres and Parada Rables where there is no church. Please remember SLM-Argentina for: 1) fruit from the new church plants 2) finances to support 3 new pastors and to purchase land for a building in San Cristobal 3) more volunteers for the Soup Kitchen.

Bolivia:Director Miguel Sanchez appreciates your prayers for their recent missionary trip throughout Bolivia and for the progress of the SLM work in these rural regions where they traveled. He also asks prayer for his wife’s health and that his children may continue to walk with the Lord. Praise God for the new SLM ministry in Trinidad Beni.

Brazil: John Leonard, Jim Leonard’s brother who was shot in the neck in July in Brazil, now has a motorized wheelchair and is living in his own home. Please pray for extensive dental work (10 root canals) because one of the bullets broke his jaw and many teeth. Pray for: 1) just $4,000 needed to complete the roof of the SLM Baptist Ch 2) the Leonards return to Brazil Nov.1.

Cambodia: Earnestly pray as work resumes at the end of August on the English/Khmer NL-1 course. Ask God for the soon completion, and distribution of this course where the Gospel is rapidly advancing in Cambodia.

Canada – Thank God with Joe and Penny Homontowski that 434 lessons were processed in July and 700 in August! The Homontowskis also praise God for the wedding of their oldest son, Darren, in August; they request prayer for their second son, David, to get a house closer to his work; the third son, Daniel, in his last year of high school.

Chile: Continue to uphold the Salazars in their very busy pastoral and SLM work. Ask God to enable them to reach many in the south, and other unreached areas.

China: Bless the Lord for the Christian foundation that donated $100,000 for the “China Printing Project!” Please pray now for 1) God’s wisdom and direction on what courses to print with the additional funds 2) and His wisdom for distribution of the courses.

Germany: Please continue to uphold Ron and Hildegard Furst  who have translated a number of SLM courses into German. By God’s grace they will set up for distribution of the courses in the near future; let us pray for God’s enablement.

Congo: Praise the Lord for new SLMers, Brian and Gwenda Trapp, who will be returning to the capital city, Kinshasa, on Jan 16; the Trapps previously served in Congo, and conducted an Associate Discipleship School there. Please pray for: 1) the adjustment back to Africa and to their international school for their 2 daughters, Marguerite (9) and Autumn (6) 2) salvation for the school principal who is Muslim 3) affordable housing and a facility for their ministry 4) God’s specific direction for their ministry in the Congo 5) the re-structuring of the Discipleship Training Branch along with the national SLM Board and the 40 volunteers 6) their Asian ministry in Kinshasa.

Ghana: Daniel Sappor asks prayer for 1) a follow-up DTI to be conducted Feb. 6-10 where two dozen new people will be trained 2) for extra funds to meet operational expenses as well as salaries for the month of November; for $2,500 monthly needed to keep the work going 3) for Church Leaders Seminar in Ho (Volta region) Nov 26-27 to introduce the Bible lessons 4) a conference in Tamale Dec 3-12, as well as a Seekers Conference on Dec 10.

Guatemala: We praise the Lord for Bob and Wanda McRae who are undertaking the revitalization of the SLM DTC in Guatemala. Please pray as they print a great volume of courses for distribution.

Guyana: Give thanks with Winston Abel that God has enabled SLM to distribute food, clothing, etc. needed by churches and associate schools. Winston asks for prayer for finances to begin an SLM radio broadcast to counteract the doctrinal confusion in the country.

Haiti: Uphold the Spaldings as the church prays and seeks a Haitian pastor, and for Art as he continues to share the ministry of SLM with so many pastors. Ask God to provide 10,000 copies of all the SLM lessons annually to Haiti, as the demand is so great. The Spaldings appreciate your prayers that their 2 boys will desire to study for at least a year in a Bible college upon graduation.

India (Amar Jyoti India): Praise God that Pramod Das and his wife, Asha, and daughter, Priya have arrived safely in the U.S. They have shared the AJI work in several churches already, and been very well received. Ask God for wisdom in setting up many more meetings in the U.S. for Pramod.

  • SLM-Bangalore: Director Hemanth Peter writes, “The Lord has been doing wonders in India and the sheer population of 1.2 billion challenges us to reach as many as possible before it is too late.”He asks prayer for: 1) $1200 for a motorbike 3) $120/month for 5 new evangelists for the South Zone.

    Bangladesh: Bless God for the completion of the first Muslim Bengali course, New Life 1, translated in Bangladesh and the CD mailed to Cuttack, India where it will be printed by SLM personnel. Let’s pray many Muslims in India and in Bangladesh will be won to Christ and strengthened through the course.

    SLM- Calcutta: Director Karunakar Jena requests prayer for a new school for their daughter, Karisma and for Sambhu suffering from acute cancer in his neck, groin and stomach; please pray for the children and for financial needs.


Ivory Coast: Please pray for 1) the return of peace to the Ivory Coast 2) $13,000 to buy parcels of land for a DTC building 2) to open a prison ministry 3) for SLM worker, Mr. N’dah, who needs $1000 to continue with treatment/to repay loans after the accident in which he broke his leg.

Japan: Director Takuji Yamazaki is rejoicing in the 5th Anniversary Celebration on August 21, followed by a Discipleship Training class for the Bible college students Aug 22-27. Praise God with Takuji for a very recent answer to prayer: God just provided a new SLM DTC office for the work! A member of Takuji’s Toyohashi Grace Baptist Church donated a 5-room “apartment/house” which is right next door to the Yamazakis’ residence. Please ask God now for office equipment ($5,000) and monthly funds of $300 for maintenance and utilities.

Jamaica: We (Mrs. Joy Webster reporting) praise the Lord for 1) the introduction of school programs in 10 schools in the Corporate Area with devotionals given to 8,600 students 2) Eddie Smith who has resumed working with SLM 3) Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Russell who have also returned to work as volunteers with SLM 4) the tremendous interest of students – lists of new students are received each week . Please pray for: 1) for God’s guidance to modify how the DTC operates 2) wisdom to cover all the schools in the St.Elizabeth school program 3) increased finances and personnel to handle the increased opportunities 4) improvement in George Webster’s health (recently came home from the hospital) 5) exposure of the SLM ministry and bookstore at the Expo at Emancipation Park on Oct 21.

Kenya:Prayer is requested for expansion to regions outside of Nairobi.

Korea: Please uphold Paul and Sue Bahn and the SLM-Korea Board as they seek to re-establish the SLM work in Korea. Pray for needed funds and materials.

Liberia:Please pray that Bible lessons will get to Sampson Hinneh in Liberia for his use – this is a vital and urgent need.

Madison DTC – Director John Cranmer reports 10,747 lessons graded in October with 769 certificates awarded, and 36 professions of faith in Christ! He praises the Lord for a new volunteer, Pat Demeter. His prayer requests are: 1)Funding for postage and literature 2) Health issues of staff members 3) Support for Ken and Carla Wills to join them 4) healing for the leg of their son, John Eric, who first broke it over 3 years ago.

New Mexico DTC – Directors, Darryl and Joan Evans, praise God for 1) the excellent ministry of Gene Bunt (former director) has moved to South Carolina, and will be married to Hortense Davis on Nov. 19 2) a new Spanish grader, Alicia Daniels and 3) joy in serving Jesus! They request prayer for 1) new donors to help in mailing costs, office supplies, etc.2) wisdom as they receive and set up 4 new office computers. Please continue to remember SLM worker, Rosita Beam’s sister, Oliva, who is undergoing chemotherapy treatments following cancer surgery in August.

Nigeria: Please continue to pray for Sanya and Bosun Dosunmu as they need funds to move the DTC office from Lagos to Abeokuta. Thank God for a report recently received from Pastor David Ajayi who participated in the Discipleship Training in February. He is continuing to conduct 6 discipleship groups through his church.

Philippines: Rejoice with Director Dr. Luz Nacionales and co-workers for PhilSOL’s 4th Anniversary in Muntinulpa men’s prison in Manila held on Oct 29. The prison has offered PhilSOL a lot for a building to house PhilSOL’s ministry in the prison (because of appreciation for their fine work). Pray for finances for this building ($7,500), and for God to make a way to bypass the corrupt prison officials who are asking for bribes before they will sign the documents for the building. Also, please pray for funding for Christmas gifts for over 8,000 Christian inmates throughout the Philippines who are involved with PhilSOL. Pastor and Virgie Espinas that many mountainous areas of Mindinao have been reached. Please pray for a new truck for the Espinas family as their old one is broken down.

Romania: Praise God with Cristian Oprea that 1) lessons arrived at the end of July 2) possibility of doing evangelistic program with Hope Baptist Church 3) many new students have been added to the correspondence school, and 3,486 lessons were sent out in September. Please pray for: 1) the Rehab Center to become a reality; 2) more contacts with churches and Christian organizations throughout the country 3) to reach more people through the electronic format 4) a Toyota Hillux for transportation. Pavel Grucean needs our prayers for progress on the Romania DTC building.

Singapore: Director Florence Lim appreciates your prayers for SLM’s upcoming 5th anniversary celebration on Dec 16. The celebration will involve an awareness program to share the SLM work with many others. Let’s ask God for a good attendance and a good response.

South Africa: Please pray for Fanie Buys wife, Cornelia, who was recently diagnosed with breast cancer; she had a mastectomy on Oct.31. She will need further chemotherapy, so please pray for her. “She is such a testimony at this time, calm and trusting Jesus through the operation and for what’s ahead.”

Togo/Benin: Prayer is requested for: 1) an evangelization campaign in the Togolese capital in November 2) a project to teach French to village people who are illiterate 3) for God to provide a car, and finances for increased petrol prices 4) for Sika’s full recovery from malaria.

Uganda: Thanks be to God for Aloni Mwisaka and his wife, Ovia, and their 2 young children. They recently rented a larger house for the same price as the former one.
