Jan (Native American outreach coordinator)

You sent us some books last year. Would it be possible to get a few more of those from you? We began a new program where we have one on one contact. We talk to them about Jesus and show them that they can live a whole new life through Jesus. We help them get saved and teach them Bible studies. We are seeing a HUGE change in each of them. Your books went over GREAT. They help us do a better job. We are now being invited to begin this program in other states. Can you help us with more material? (YES!) We would be so grateful for all and any help you may give to us. Thank you and God bless you.

Chaplain from north-eastern Georgia

The Walker Faith and Character Based Program is off to a great start. The staff is witnessing a drastic change in the lives and attitudes of the men. The vision of this program is to prepare men for re-entry into society as productive citizens. This goal can be reached with your continued prayers and support.

We thank you for your donation of materials. This project could not be accomplished without people like you. Thank you for your support.

Maxine (adult)

This is a great course – the way it exalts Christ. I didn’t learn anything new, but the facts in the lessons thrill me. I taught through them to two ladies who learned so much from the lessons. God bless you.

Edward (Prisoner)

The most import thing that I learned from this lesson is that Jesus came to earth as a man. His life here was one big example for me to follow. Jesus was preparing for what was to come. Sin cannot enter heaven so He became the last sacrifice for sin. He died on the cross so that everyone’s sins would be forgiven if they believe in Him. Now all believers have a true hope.

Lisa (Released prisoner)

I want to give praise to God. I have to thank Him for all my blessings this past month and two answered prayers. To God be the glory – Such a joy in my heart! I claim the saving grace of Jesus. Thanks to you all for praying also.

Everaldo (Hispanic Prisoner)

(He did not like it when asked about receiving Jesus because he did not believe in the Trinity. This is his response after we sent him some helps.) Thank you for the letter that I liked very much, for the tract, the note, and the time dedicated to praying for me. Thank you also for the pages of information that you sent me. I am going to study them more to understand it better.

Thank you for this blessing because it is very difficult to seek God in here. Many of the men criticize when someone wants to change and receive Jesus as Savior. But now I have gotten to know Him through the Holy Scriptures and I have received Jesus as my Savior. I Timothy 4:10

Dorothea (Adult)

What do you believe about the creation of the universe? When I was in elementary school I loved studying about outer space. I knew then something special had happened to make those things work the way they do. Things like that don’t just happen. Someone had to have done it, someone mightier than a scientist, someone with the ability to do anything. It had to be God.

My mother took my sister and me to church and that is when I found out that God had done it and told us about it in Genesis. Nobody can tell me a theory that is different that I’ll believe. I may have to study it in school and take a test on it, but I don’t have to believe it. I believe only one Book and that is the Bible. God wrote it; it’s the truth.

David (Prisoner)

This lesson hit me close to the bone and made me realize I was living in self. Self was the head of my life, not Christ. I signed the statement “I have been crucified with Christ” and I prayed. My prayer is that I can continue to live “in Christ” and He can live His life in mine.

Charlton (Prisoner)

I would like to thank you for helping show us the way. Thank you for everything.

Misty (Prisoner)

This is the last of My New Life in Christ 1. Are there any more studies that are available to me? I enjoy studying my Bible. It’s really showing me how life is with God and how I can keep the devil off my back. Thank you! God bless you all!

John (Prisoner)

I want to thank you for your wonderful fellowship for always acknowledging my prayer requests. It is a comfort to my heart to have others helping me in prayer. I am here to do the same, if your ministry ever needs special prayer. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. God bless you all.

April (Adult)

I have been going through a lot this year. There have been deaths in my family, and I have been dealing with health problems, but I know God will see me through it. Please pray that I will get my joy back.

Thank you for the booklet. I have really enjoyed it. Please pray for my son’s foot. They thought he had gout, but it is not that. He can hardly hobble around. His wife needs prayer for strength to keep going. They have their own ministry that they take care of. I will keep praying for you.

Steven (Prisoner)

May God bless you for what you are doing to further inmates’ knowledge of God.

I truly love Him. I just need to concentrate on not letting the world and silly disagreements bother me. In here they do some thing that drive me crazy, but I must keep reminding myself of Philippians 2:14,15.

Heaven I Long For

There is a land of pure delight, where saints immortal reign.

Infinite day excludes the night, and pleasure banishes pain.

To see His face, this is my goal,

and the deepest longing of my soul.

Through storm and stress my path I’ll trace,

until satisfied I see His face.

Sometimes I grow homesick for heaven, and the glories there I shall behold.

What a joy that will be when my Savior I see, in that beautiful city of gold.

Aurelio (Hispanic student)

It was today in this place that I saw marvelous things from the Holy Bible and fell down when I realized what your Bible studies taught me. Thanks through your efforts that you are doing for God because I have received Jesus as my Savior. May God bless all of you.

A woman taking our studies in prison

May God continue to bless you and keep His mighty arms around you.

My son is not a Christian. He is Hindu and lives in India. He is 20 years old. He does believe in God but not Jesus. I just want God to touch his heart so he can start believing in Him. I received the Lord in my heart 3 years ago. God is good.

David (adult)

Thank you for another enriching lesson. I feel as if I am drawing closer to God through your studies. It has been a blessing these past couple of years doing them. May God bless each and every one of you.

Sarah (Teenager)

What is the most important thing you have learned in this lesson? I like the forgiving others part. How many times must one forgive—seventy times seven and even more. The Lord set some great examples for us. I really enjoy these courses.

Tony (Prisoner)

Thank you for the Bible studies. They have really helped me understand more about what I need to be more like Christ. I was raised in the church as a boy, but I drifted away for many years. I had forgotten my way back. Thank you for all you do. I hope to see you in the rapture or in heaven whichever comes first.

Ulinda (Former prisoner)

I really enjoy your Bible lessons. I have left prison, but I would like to continue receiving your lessons. Here is my new address. Pray for my adjustments.

Kenneth (Prisoner)

I am learning so much through this study. Thank you for continually sending me the lessons. I saw that my cellmate has received his first lesson today from you all. He has been working on it all day while I was at work in the kitchen. He seems to be enjoying it too. I hope and pray he really decides to give his life to God and accept Christ as his Savior. He says he doesn’t believe in heaven or hell. He still thinks that when you die everything is over. I hope through these lessons he learns and accepts the truth about God and eternity. God bless…

Gerard (Prisoner)

The most important things I have learned from these lessons are:

To place God first in my life

To love and trust God with my life

That it is only through His Son Jesus that I can be saved and given eternal life

That heaven is a real place

That I will inhabit heaven as a result of my belief in Christ

That I will see Jesus face to face

And that I will be reunited with my loved ones who have passed after trusting Christ.

Thank you!

Jonathon (Prisoner)

Thanks and Praise be to God! God bless you all and thank you for the Bible you sent. I rejoiced when I received it and a new study and a note!

I thank God for small beginnings and your humble kindness. I see God moving in my life, like never before. Pray that my fruit grows and remains. Thank you again.

I feel alone, being caged, but this time God had given me to allow me to see myself as He saw me. I was saved, but ungrateful and disobedient. I would not hear or change my ways. I kept trying to do things on my own. I found I was wrong, but God can change me.

Elvron (Prisoner)

He sent us a prayer list that he made in his cell block. It was passed around and 19 of the men signed their names and gave prayer requests. These requests were for their families and spiritual walk. Some asked for prayer for their court cases and others for work. One man asked for prayer for his cellmate because he is not saved.

Elizabeth (adult)

Thank you for the card you sent. Your words meant so much. You’re in my daily prayers and so is Source of Light. Praise Him!

Cassie (12 year old)

I want my friend to believe in God. Her name is Katie. Pray for her.

Christopher (Prisoner)

My wife has filed for divorce. I don’t want to lose my wife. I know that I was wrong. I pray that God will intervene and restore my marriage. Please pray for Him to help me.

Donna (Adult)

My daughter was recently in jail. Through her I was able to connect with several young women who are incarcerated. I am now writing these girls. Would you pray with me for their salvation? They need to open their ears, eyes, and hearts to Jesus Christ through the hearing of the Word of God and my testimony.

Brenda (Adult)

I thought I would let you know that I came across a lot of important material as I was studying my lesson. It was hitting me in the face that I was wrong in my life. I am going to reread this lesson again and get into it and God’s Word even more than before. I want to get my heart right with God.

Aisha (Adult)

I was sent some lesson books about 5 years ago. At that time I was trying to get back on track, but things were rough. I have come across them again. I live in New York now, but I want to continue to have correspondence with you. I still have the books and want to keep studying. Do you still use the same ones? If not, can you send me the ones you are using now? I appreciate you reaching out to me. Hopefully you can extend your hand again. Thank you.

Jimmy (Adult)

Please pray for me. I need God’s help so I won’t give up on Him. I can’t do this by myself anymore. I usually dwell upon my past defeats, but I need to remember that His love never fails. I want to be strong and live right for Him. Thank you.

Debbie (Adult)

I would like for you to pray that I continue to be in God’s Word and that He would order my steps in the way He wants me to go. I need for Him to create in me a clean heart and to love everybody like Christ did.

Thomas (Prisoner)

I am really struggling with the fact that I may have lost my wife and daughter. She said that she can’t take it no more. I hurt her by all the wrong I done when I was out. Pray that she can hang in there and that we can stay a family.

Joshua (Prisoner)

I received your letter and I would like to thank you for writing back. Your letter really stirred my faith. I know God put the word in your mouth that is why I give God all the glory. I know now that God’s mercy is greater than our sins. I have learned that faith is what pleases God. That faith is all I have right now, but He has shown me that I would need to be torn down so He can build me back up. I am picking up me cross and following in the footsteps of Jesus. Please keep me in your prayer and I will do the same.

Lee (Former prisoner)

I want to thank you for your contributions toward my studies in God’s Word. I thank God that He motivated you and gave you the desire to do what you do to help people grow in the Lord.

Sharon (Adult)

Please pray for me. I need help letting go of past hurt that keeps me from getting my life together. I want to stop being so depressed and angry about my situation and learn to let God handle my life.

Hester (70 years young)

Thank you all for all my Bible lessons. They have helped me to learn more and more about God’s Word. I was born with polio and have had great physical difficulties. I am blessed that He gave me life and I love to be in His Word. I may not answer every question, but, thank God, I am still doing the lessons. May God bless you and I am going to keep you all in my prayers.

Larry (Prisoner)

This Cross Was Meant For Me

Sometimes things happen that do not make sense,

I struggle to find a plan of defense.

In search of the answers to understand,

I sense my Savior when He takes my hand,

As He leads me on where I cannot see,

He assures me this cross was meant for me.

The Lord Jesus has made my path so clear,

Though I struggle sometimes, I’ll have no fear.

He helps me walk where He’s traveled before,

And guides me safely to His peaceful shore.

While at times it’s dark and I cannot see,

He assures me this cross was meant for me.

I view now the cross that I have to bear,

And trust Jesus to guide me safely there.

No matter how bleak and dark are the skies,

I’m able to see through His loving eyes.

His arms were stretched out there at Calvary,

He assures me this cross was meant for me.

He lets me know I can trust Him,

It was through His cross He forgave my sin.

My defense is always through Calvary,

I’m assured that this cross was meant for me.

Michael (Veteran)

This Bible study and your prayers are appreciated and a Godsend. I ask God to bring my family closer to Him.

I have given out all the cards you sent me and encouraged my family to take these courses. I am going to the VA hospital and would like a few more to pass out there if possible. I believe so much in what you are doing. It has done so much for me. I will help out more financially in the future as God blesses.

It is really great you offer this for free. That helped me to start and I am so glad I did.

Daniel (Hispanic Prisoner)

While reading “Light from the Gospel of John”, I received Jesus as my Savior. I had never realized how marvelous it is to know Jesus as my Lord and what you feel when you receive Jesus as your Savior. It is an internal peace and a faith that grows more and more every time that you get to know about the Word of God.

Romero (Hispanic prisoner)

The lesson asked “Have you received Jesus as your Savior?” His response was “Saved at this moment.”

I was never able to read the Bible before and I didn’t want to know anything about it. If I would read it, I would feel tired and confused. Now with help I have discovered how to know God and every time that I read the Bible I learn more about Him. Now I have much faith in Him and I believe that He is my Savior. I have much faith that He will help me with my problems.

Mario (Prisoner)

Mario picked up and read “One Foot in Heaven” written by Dr. Shade. It is a tract about something that happened in his life. At the end of the tract it asks a couple of questions about salvation and there is a place to sign and date it. Mario accepted Christ and asked to be enrolled as a student. He was saved 2-15-2012.

James (Adult)

Thanks for the encouragement you give me. I know that I have grown closer to God by doing these lessons. They have helped me get through some hard times. I look forward to getting new lessons each time. Thank you for everything. May God always be with you.

(Prisoner)

I was a Sunni Muslim for 33 years. I began to study the Bible with the intent to find faults with Christianity. Instead of finding faults I found the truth and became born again 27 months ago. I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior who died for my sins. I am saved and sure of it. I have eternal life. I love, trust, and rely on Jesus Christ.

Micah (6 year old)

Please pray for me to be brave enough to ask Jesus to save me.

David (Adult)

I don’t know what I am doing wrong but I have lost the enjoyment of my position in Christ. Please pray that I learn what is displeasing to God in my life and that I correct it.

Please pray that I will understand, retain, and put into practice all that I am learning and to have the courage and knowledge to pass the information on to others. I want to speak boldly about what Jesus Christ is doing in my life.

Greg (Prisoner)

Please pray for my son. He is in the Army and just returned from Afghanistan. Pray that God will come back into his life. He is having some problems with pressures, his marriage, and a new child. He needs all the prayers he can get.

Jesse (Prisoner)

Thank you for tracking me down! I got sent to prison and they made me leave all my stuff behind except my legal papers. I thought I would have to wait till I got out to look you guys up. I truly appreciate you guys. Your Bible study booklets have given me an understanding of the Bible in the biggest way.

My cellmate would like to get started in your Bible study course too. Thank you so much !!!

Ramon (Hispanic prisoner)

Brethren, I have come to know the Lord as my personal Savior here in prison and God has blessed me and helped me a whole lot where I find myself in prison. I have recognized my faults here and I have been ungrateful because I have failed Him many times. Please pray for me.

Horacio (Prisoner)

May this letter find you and everyone in the ministry in the best of health. Thank you for your uplifting words in the previous study, it is something that we lack in here.

As it amazes you, it also does me; God’s Word is true and life-changing. I used to say “I don’t deserve to be in here; I am not like these people; I am so much better.” In reality I am no different; I was just not caught before. What is happening to me in here is a life transformation. Hallelujah!! Thank you, Jesus.

I miss my family so much, but this chastening I would not trade for the world. I was not a good father figure to my family when I was out there (alcohol, drugs, women, working all the time). I thought that this is all they needed: A home, a boat, top-of-the-line cars, the best clothes, and any other materialistic “WANT” they or I could imagine. Wow, I missed so much not having Jesus. In prayer I have promised my Lord and Savior that when my release comes, my family will see and be taught by a real man, a man of God, the man God is making me to be in here.

Throughout this course I have learned to read the Bible where we find the treasure of true wisdom. I would like to thank everyone that has taken their time to look over and grade my tests. Your notes and comments have been helpful and inspirational. I love you and thank you all for you have done for me. May God bless you.

Greetings to the people of God there at Source of Light. Thank you for your prayers for me.

I want to thank you for the certificate I received at the end of my last study and for the new Bible study. I am looking forward to this.

I grew up in church but chose my own way. It took me a long time to totally surrender to the Lord, but I thank God for His love, mercy, and grace. If I wasn’t brought low, serving two 25 year sentences, I would have died in my sins. Praise God for opening my eyes to see Him. Praise Him for calling me to work. I am here to win souls for Christ! I’m so excited that my Lord has enlisted me as a soldier for Christ.

Hannah (adult)

When I was 5 years old, the Lord Jesus convinced me that I was a sinner; lost, deserving death, and on my way to hell. He convinced me that He is the only way to heaven, and He gave me the faith to believe, repent, ask, and receive. When I called, He saved me, just like He promised. I have been and will be saved forever because of His grace!

Alex (Prisoner in Thailand)

(He sent a long letter to describe his experience through the recent floods. I will summarize some of it.) It has been a long time since you heard from me, but it was due to the tragedy of the flooding all over Thailand. The authorities evacuated us to the north. It took nine hours for us to get there by convoy. On the way we saw the horrible devastation, even the airplanes at the airport were almost covered in water. On the third day I ask some of the others who had been evacuated to join in morning devotions out on a field. There were six of us that first morning, but the next day it became a large group with all kinds of people around the throne and presence of God.

I have begun to preach in the services at church. The first time I was very nervous. There were around 70 people. At my second sermon, I spoke to about 120 audience and there were those of the Buddhist faith who made decisions. Another man, an admitted homosexual, came and repented for Christ. Glory be to God and praises and thanksgiving unto His mighty name. Some started calling me Pastor but I told them that I am not qualified to this name but I am a trainee and student under Source of Light Ministries. Please send lessons to these and pray for the new converts. (He lists some names and gives us a new student to send lessons to.)

Sharon (Adult)

I thank God for this course. It has really taught me more than I have even learned at church. God wants us to learn about Him and ask Him in our prayers for more wisdom and knowledge. Getting an understanding is the key. Now I know how God is coming back. Now I see that Satan is trying to fool all people into believing that he rules, but he will be stopped by God. Thank you for these valuable free lessons.

Amanda (Adult)

I am going through a separation and it soon will be a divorce. I have two kids and no job. I have had to go live with my family. Please pray that I will be able to financially care for my kids, find our own home, and that I can make good changes in my life.

Joshua (Adult)

My wife has quit going to church and is starting to go down the wrong road. She is also giving up on us. Please pray that God will touch her life and get her back to going to church. Thank you.

Linda (Adult)

My husband needs to give his life to Christ and come back to church. Please pray for him.

Charles (Prisoner)

The lesson reads, Will you now repent and accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior? Yes, it is time I starting living up to my word. I did before but I only claimed that I did. I never actually lived it out.

I’ve lived on the edge for so long I thought for sure my life was going to end. I don’t want to die having fun, but spend eternity in hell. I’ve studied many “beliefs” but Jesus is the only actual one that has truth behind it. He has brought me and my family back together. My life is now in His hands completely. Thank you, Lord, for the chance of redemption.

Lynette (Adult)

I have been turning in names since I started these Bible studies simply cause I wanted others to learn what I’m learning. They say they want it, but many of them have not even looked at their packets yet. Some have and they help me encourage the others who have not. I will continue to send names as I can. I appreciate the communication your graders have with us. The feedback from you is very encouraging to us. Thank you so much.

Paul (Prisoner)

I want to thank everybody there for all your prayers. I was blessed with a phone call from my parents! God does answer prayers. I couldn’t help but cry. I haven’t had any contact with them in 15 months. I will ask for all of you to keep my dad on your prayer list. He has been in and out of the hospital. He has ad 3 mild strokes. My mom is having a rough time as well. Thank you for all the prayers once again.

Monica (Adult)

I am praying to know God’s will for me. I’m praying that He will place me in a job that He wants me to have. Also, pray that my son is safe. (I haven’t seen him for a few years) God bless your ministry and everyone involved. Thank you for the return envelopes too.

Bessie (Adult)

I learned the meaning of the Passover lamb from this lesson. It was the blood of the lamb that protected them from God’s judgment. That is true of us as well; the blood of the Lamb protects us from God’s Judgment. I am so glad that I am taking this Bible class. I am learning so much. God gives me the meaning of each lesson as I read. Can’t wait for the next lesson. God bless you and keep up the good work.

Luis (Hispanic prisoner)

I find myself in prison because of armed robbery and I am really repentant of my sins. I have given myself over to God to forgive me of my sins. I also want Him to grant me liberty to return to Mexico to my family. I wish to follow God’s commands. I want to be free so that I can train my son and marry my girlfriend so that I can be pleasing in God’s sight. Pray to God for me and my family that soon I will be reunited with them to do God’s will.

Daphyne (prisoner)
I am happy to inform you that I will be home next week. Praise God. However I wish to stay strong in my walk and studies. I am asking you to please send me my studies to this new address. I want to thank you for all that you have done for me as well as countless others. If ever I can do anything in return, please ask of me. God bless you.

Jerry (prisoner)
First of all I need to say that I enjoy this course. I can’t really express how I have grown but I am more at ease now. What I learned in this course is that Christ gave us life by His death.
He has shown us through His teachings that we don’t have to sin. We don’t have to be savage. Repent for our sins and go to sin no more because we have an intercessor in Jesus. Who can be against me when He is for me. I used to get angry a lot but now I pray, sit back, and put things in order in my mind. If I give in to the anger, I will never leave this place.
Why have hatred toward someone, when love is so much better. I don’t want to be left behind when our Lord comes back. He’s coming and I want to be ready at all times. Thank you for this lesson.

Casey (prisoner)
In my last lesson you wrote to me asking if there is any request I may have. If you have any Christian books especially biographies, I would love to receive them. I cannot pay for any because I am indigent and only make $9 a month working in the institution.
I have lost interest in television. I sometimes listen to the radio, but I really enjoy doing the lessons you provide. I look forward to each one as they come. May the Lord’s love flow from you even as I love your influence in my life. (We sent him three books and a self-addressed stamped envelope to help him get his lessons back to us)

Roberto (Hispanic prisoner)
I write to you these lines to thank you for the support that you give me and other brethren to have these Bible courses. They are a blessing to us and help us to grow in the knowledge of our Lord. God bless each one of you and your ministry and may He supply all of your needs.

Jason (father of a student)
I would like to that you for providing my son a Bible. I will make sure that he makes good use of it. He has just begun the Source of Light Bible studies and I thought he could use a Bible to look up the references. At this time money is real tight and you came through for me. You have been a true blessing. Thank you.

Thomas (prisoner)
Would you pray for my mom? She needs to learn to walk and write all over again since she had a stroke. Plus, keep the rest of the family in prayer too, that they will accept me back for who I am now and not who I used to be.

Hadalane (adult)
Please pray for my family. Our grand-daughter was born in December of last year and went home to be with the Lord January 2nd. She lived for 12 days. We know better than to ask why because the Lord knows best.
Our consolation verse is Job 1:21 “the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.” Thank you all for your prayers.

Adrian (prisoner)
Congratulations on your 60 years of getting God’s Word to the people!

Erwin (Hispanic prisoner)
I came to receive Jesus as my Savior in my heart but I walked away from Him little by little. Now I am here in this prison and I am getting to know more about Him. This has helped me a lot. I know that He loves me and I will never leave Him again. Thank you for these tracts (and lessons). They help me to grow more in my faith and keep me following Jesus.

Mike (prisoner)
Can we count a fight as a blessing? I know that fighting is not what God wants from us but I gave this Satan a black eye. Oh, he gave me two of them back, for real. Anyway, I was moved. I was put in a padded cell for two days which gave me time to look at what had happened and why it happened. I prayed a lot and what God told me was that I needed to give up trying to do things on my own and let Him have control. So I have done just that.
Well, the first thing that happened was that temptation came to me. I was put with a guy that cussed at everything. He called me everything, but God wanted kindness from me. My tongue and my mouth used to be one of my problems., so I picked up my Bible and read and prayed and then read some more. The abuse went on for three days without me saying a word. Finally I began quoting scripture to him. He asked to be moved. Praise the Lord!
I’d like to thank God for the victory that He gave me over Satan and the controlling of my tongue. I was amazed how God gave me the patience and strength to sit there and talk to me that way. So thank you for all of your prayers.

Roberto (Hispanic prisoner)
I ask for your prayers that the Lord will help me to lead a victorious life because I am very jealous for my wife. I have a bad temper and bad thoughts. I am very proud too.
I am also afraid for the day they let me out of prison. I fear they will kill me with bullets in the city I came from. Please pray for me.

Leonard (prisoner)
Thank you for your love and I hope that I did well on my lesson. Thank you for your Bible study; it was very good for my life. I learned a lot about God. Thank you.

Jesenia (child)
Please pray for people to stop bullying me at school. Kids are so mean these days. It makes me sad. (She drew a frowny face on her request. We sent her an encouraging tract.)

Norman (prisoner)
Please pray for a friend of mine. She is expecting twins (their first children). One is developing just fine. The other one is not developing like it should. She will not abort it. She says that as long as it has a heart beat, it has a soul. She is content for God to work even though the doctors have no hope. Pray that both may be born healthy please.

Dwight (prisoner)
I learned through this lesson that the Lord Jesus Christ is everything to us. I must trust and believe in His merciful love and know that He is with all believers. We will be joined with our Father in heaven in the Beautiful City one day. There we will rejoice and serve Him. Unbelievers will be lost forever.
The Son of God loved us so much that He was willing to be sent as a man to die for our sins. Trust in the Lord!

(Sorry if I seemed to focus on the prisoners this time, but they do send us more responses than non-prisoners. Think of their needs and pray for them as they face earthly judgments.)

David (prisoner)
Thank you for another well established Bible study. I love to study God’s Word. Your lessons have been most edifying as I am being prepared to re-enter society. Thank you for all you have done for me. My release date is 06/29/12. I can’t wait! After four long years, I’m actually ready to go. Thank you also for your prayers.

Richard (French student)
Yes, I received the Lord Jesus into my heart at the time of my hospitalization for an attack of hypertension in 2004. A group of evangelists visited and witnessed to me. The Lord Jesus Christ stirred powerfully in my life during that period of time. I have never left the church since and I was baptized in 2010. The Spirit bears witness that I am saved by the conviction that Jesus lives within me.

Abel (Hispanic prisoner)
Before anything I give thanks to God for the life and health that our creator gives us in this world that passes us by. I want to express my happiness and joy that I have in my heart because God continues doing His redemptive work in me. This is a transforming work in someone who was lost and now has been given life. I thank God for people like you who give their lives and time to rescue lost souls. Thank you very much for your words of encouragement and exhortation to follow the narrow way that takes us to eternal life. When I saw that I was receiving another course it gave me much enthusiasm because I can continue to get to know more about our Lord Jesus Christ. May He give me wisdom, understanding, and good judgement as I do Course 2 because ever since I have received Jesus as my Savior I have the responsibility of showing God’s acts in my life.

Lisa (prisoner)
Pray that God will give me the patience to wait for His wisdom and guidance for the decisions in my life. To be truly forgiving, to truly leave the past behind, to truly trust His Word.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

Danny (adult)
These lessons are getting better and better. Thank you for a job well done. I love the Mailbox Club. This is Christ’s great help for me every day of my life. Thank you.

Jayson (7 years old)
Please pray for my Daddy. Pray my dad gets full custody of me when he goes to court in March. Pray for my health and my dad’s. Pray for my Aunt Wanda’s health and that I do good in school.

Fredrick (prisoner)
I enjoyed these lessons. I learn something new every time. I joyfully receive my grader’s comments and messages. God bless you for your good work. I will hang on to the Word because that is where peace is. I can assure you that despite being in a place where there is no peace of mind for 90% of the people, I am cool, settled and with great peace of mind. God gives me something new to share every day with those around me here. The Bible is so cool. It is brand-new to me. Thank you very much.

Eric (prisoner)
I learned how to get to Heaven by taking Jesus Christ and being saved. (He was saved through the lessons in My New Life in Christ)

Graciano (Hispanic prisoner)
I wish all of you the peace of Christ. I also want to thank you for your Bible that you sent me as promised. I thank you with all my heart. May God bless you and may your ministry double in growth while you serve people in need.
Amos (prisoner)
I have surrendered my sin to God and my life as well. I am ready to turn from my sinful ways and learn how to live a brand new life that is with God and for God only. I know that it is available to me. I want to seek God’s presence and not His presents. I want the new way of thinking that is changed to God’s purposes. Thanks for praying for me, loving me, and caring for me in Christ. That is what Jesus would do!

Philip (prisoner)
The most important things I’ve learned in this course are that Christ is all and everything I need. Jesus Christ came to die so that I may live. He’s the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. I’ve also learned that I will see and know all my loved ones who have accepted Christ as their Savior when I get to heaven. If I make it my purpose to please Christ in everything I do and say and spend time with the Lord every day then He will help me to live a happy and victorious life. I learned a lot more but these are the most important to me.

Donald (prisoner)
Hi. I am an inmate at a prison in NC. I was talking to one of my friends one day. He was in the day room doing a Bible study and I asked him where he got that Bible study. He told me to write to the address and y’all would send me a Bible study to read and do. He said if I did the study and then sent it back to you that you would send me another one. Would you do that?
I would like for y’all to send me anything about the Bible that you think would help me while I am in prison. Thank you very much. (We sent him a Bible study. Would you pray that it helps him to find Christ?)

Johnny (prisoner)
I need help with my mouth and my thoughts. I open my mouth when I shouldn’t and I think very negatively at times. I need more self-control. Thank you for your prayers.

Jasmine (child)
Pray that my friends be nicer to me.

John (adult)
I have learned through this course about love and righteousness along with forgiveness. I understand that I need to let God work through me instead of fighting it all the time. It is not easy. I am trying to work on not cussing. I have come a great distance but only through God’s help. Thank you.

Charles (prisoner)
I would like for you to pray for the unity of Christians in this prison. We need to reach others with the salvation of Christ. We have a harvest field right here. Thank you and God bless.

Special Note: A chaplain from Gwinnett County called to thank us for sending lessons to prisoners. He mentioned how he has seen the difference the lessons have made in the lives of the inmates that are taking them.

Larry (prisoner)
Have You Heard?
Another Christmas season came and went, again, few realized the precious gift sent. Conversations abound, seems the world has heard, yet many refuse the truths of God’s Word. Concerned with selfishness, material and greed, the most important message they have failed to heed.
“There’s plenty of time, why not wait till next year?” Yet again and again they refuse to hear!

A mission of Christ was to heal deaf ears, yet so many became deaf through the passing years. Remember He was given to us that great day, can you hear what the angelic host had to say? “The Savior has come, to God be the glory, repeat what you hear and tell the whole story!”
Don’t be afraid of what others might say, you must proclaim abroad without delay.
His coming again is yet closer still, spread the good news and fulfill His Will.

Patrick (prisoner)
I believe all the principles, steps and outlines mentioned in the PCL course are important for proper Christian living and growth. The points most important to me are:
–Remembering that everything I have including myself belong to God.
–My anger is not worth my separation from God’s love.
–My pride has no value when compared to my salvation.
–It is of the utmost importance to have and maintain daily Bible reading and prayer time.
–If I put God first in my life and love my neighbor as myself, I can’t go wrong!
These are very easy to say but sometimes very hard to do. Thank you very much for allowing me to take part in this wonderful Bible study course. God Bless!

Joseph (prisoner)
I learned that we need to be ready for the return of Jesus by reading and studying the Bible. It is very important to know what the Bible says so we don’t be deceived by the devil. The only way to fight is by knowing what the Bible says. We need to take Jesus Christ at His Word and trust in Him because this life we live now is very short compared to eternity.
I am sending my fellow inmates’ lessons with mine to save on postage. I hope that is alright. (It is.) Thank you and God bless.

Luis (Hispanic prisoner)
I am in prison for armed robbery. I really did commit this offense, but I am profoundly repentant. I hope that you will pray for me that God will forgive me. I want another opportunity to be free and not sin any more. (Note from grader: I wrote to him and gave him I John 1:9 because he asked Jesus to be his Savior and he is a Christian now!)

Frank (prisoner)
Praise God that on 11-18 I made my commitment to Jesus Christ and gave my life to Him. I asked Him to forgive me and to be my Savior. I used to be suicidal. I did harm to myself. With studying the Bible, taking the Bible courses, and receiving encouraging remarks from the graders, these all have helped me in my new walk in God. Thank you all so much. God bless you all always.
(He sent two poems that he wrote, one before he was saved and one from after. I will include one here.)
Oh Lord Above
All my life; I’ve walked day and night
So alone, lost and confused, I turn to you
Asking, Oh Lord Above, please hear my cries
Because you are the only one who understands me

My entire life has been filled with loneliness and despair
Please stop the hopelessness and craziness in my mind
Because Oh Lord Above, You are the only one,
Who, but You, can cast out all my pain and sorrow

In my life all I have ever received is abuse and neglect
Please remove the scars of my afflictions, Oh Lord Above
You are the only one who can comfort me
Relieve me of my dark thoughts and doubts

Oh Lord Above, I turn to you, please heal my heart
From all the pain that has afflicted my soul
Bless me and caress me, because You, Oh Lord Above
Are the only one that can heal and mend me

Down on my knees, I lift my arms up to you, my hands held high
As I cry out to you, please hear my pleas, cause you, Oh Lord Above
Who does not lend a deaf ear, but hear all my requests and needs
Will hear my cries and answer because You truly care

Shed Your mercy and grace upon me, love me and deliver me
From all my iniquities, cause You, Oh Lord Above, can heal me
Oh Lord Above, I’ve been so blessed to receive Your gift of salvation
Now and forever I shall always praise your name, for You have saved me

Guide me and instruct me all the days of my life, give me words of wisdom
May I live each day through You and honor You by remembering You each day
You died on the cross to save us all from our sins, but have risen, I praise YOU!
Cause You, Oh Lord Above, are the only one who can teach me the truths.

Alton (prisoner)
Thank you for sharing God’s Word with me. Thank you also for helping me with my walk for Jesus. Jesus is Lord, AMEN! Please say a prayer for the Source of Light teachers and their ministry.

Kristen (Child)
My mom and dad are split up and I am going through a divorce case. I am living with my aunt. Please pray for me and my mom and my dad. They are not saved.

Kelsey (Child)
Please pray for me. I keep getting candy from the pantry and pray for all the other sinners. Thank you.

Bancroft Gospel Ministry (Associate Discipleship School)
We received this note in a Christmas card. “We wanted to let you know that after reading the latest lesson you sent, Jenna asked Jesus into her heart. This is by far the greatest Christmas gift! Thank you for all you do – for sending the lessons, for teaching and caring for so many children, for being obedient in sharing the Gospel.” (Jenna is enrolled in See and Do 1which means she is about 4 or 5 years old.)

Cathy (adult)
This lesson, Anger, Reaction, and Resentment – Turning from Bitterness to Forgiveness, has opened my eyes a lot. I have been hurt by people and I need to release these people in forgiving them. It is very hard. Please pray for me. Thank you!

Ken (prisoner)
I learned about our coming King and how to be ready for Him. I now know about what will happen to the believers and unbelievers when Jesus Christ returns to judge us all. I learned what it is going to be like in the next life when the King comes and destroys His enemies. I will get to see His face! God Himself will dwell with me and there will be no harm, tears, death, sorrow, nor crying, no pain, and I don’t have to be afraid of anything. I’ll be with my loved ones who believed in Christ and never say goodbye again. I’ll want to see if there is anyone that I said or did anything to lead him to Christ. How wonderful it would be to me.

Julio (Hispanic prisoner)
May the Spirit of God fill your hearts with peace and hope as well as His rich blessings during this time of year. I ask forgiveness because I don’t have either silver or gold but these are my humble desires and prayers for all of you. Thank you for your beautiful Christmas card and your kind thoughts. I sent it to my family for Christmas. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Donyell (adult)
I am tithing to your Madison Discipleship School because your lessons have greatly blessed me and grown my spiritual life in the wisdom of the Lord.
Thank you for the generosity of the MDS. Your ministry is a great ground to sow seeds into. God bless you!

Joseph (prisoner)
I ‘ve been working through the 12 steps of AA. Now I am at step #3. . . turning my will and my life over to the care of God. Could you please pray for me to give more and more of my life to Jesus everyday. God bless you and thank you.

Jerry (prisoner)
Dear friends and your families as well, I pray that you are well and blessed and Happy Holidays to you and your families. As for me I’m doing good and thanking the Lord for every day He’s given me. He is so good to us all and we need to take a little of our time to tell Him thanks. Also, I thank you all for your help and time.

Luis (Hispanic prisoner)
At this moment of my life I find myself in prison because of the consequences of alcohol, drugs and strife in my marriage. Now I no longer desire to follow this life. I am tired of the suffering that I have caused my wife and child. I am seeking God because I know that only He can change me. I am thankful for receiving this course because it is through it that I have received Jesus as my Savior and have begun to know Him. I am very grateful to God.

Berteneta (adult)
I am truly progressing very well in my obedience to the Lord. I am also being obedient to the authorities that I am under with the help of Jesus. Thank you for your help in my life.

Marvin (prisoner)
If you have someone that can write me or I can write to help me along my walk with Christ, that would be lovely. I do need your help. If I don’t have help I will continue to fall more. God put in my heart, “I know I am in prison on the outside, but on the inside, I’m freeeeee!” May God bless you all.

Karen (adult)
Can you send 10 more of the tract “Beginning With Christ”? Recently the Lord used me to lead someone to the Lord and I would like more to give to future believers. Thank you! (She was sent what she asked for.)

Michael (prisoner)
I am grateful for your ministry and your Bible Studies. I will always be thankful for your love and service to others, especially for our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.
I really enjoy the format of your Bible courses. They are both educational and spiritually informational. I truly appreciate the way the material is presented. It is easily understandable and applicable.

Ron (prisoner)
Thank you so much for this Bible Study. I have been in prison for 16 years forgotten by most. The injustice of our prison system cannot be believed unless you have been here. In prison the life is day to day and it seems like my life will never end. I read my Bible every day. I know that someday soon I’ll be called to my home in heaven by my Savior, Jesus.
Your Bible studies are so very important to me. I have gained a great deal more knowledge of the Bible through them! Thank you again. May God bless you.

Scott (prisoner)
Please pray for me! I am to be released at the end of 2011. When we did my home plan, my wife was to pick me up. She called back later after I had left my case worker to say she was leaving me. She was tired of being alone and moved on. We have been married over 10 years and my sentence was only 9 months. She is not picking me up and has put my things in storage. I don’t have any help and will hitch-hike back to where my family is. I am so heart-broken over this situation. It seems as if there is nothing I can do.
I am giving this all to God. I want to follow His will. I will need your prayers for safety and direction with my wife leaving me. Thank you. (He was responded to, but can you pray for him?)

Anthony (prisoner)
A friend that told me this is a ministry gave me this address. If so, I’m interested in changing my life around. I just don’t know how to go about this. You find me writing to you so I can find my way to the light. Is there any way I can find help from Source of Light? Do you all give Bible chores? What you do give, send me some and thank you for your time. God bless you and your loved ones. You will be in my prayers. Please pray for me as well.

Jose (Hispanic prisoner)
I am thankful first of all to God for using people like you to help us learn the basics of studying the Bible. We are thankful for you, brethren in Christ Jesus. May God bless you. I ask God to prosper you with spiritual abundance and with the material things that you need to keep going.

Michael (prisoner)
I have been wondering, does your Bible study end after I finish this course? (He is in the middle of My New Life In Christ, our first adult course) I am praying that it does not. I have enjoyed this Bible course very much. I do not look forward to it being over. God has blessed Source of Light with a wonderful gift. I would like to thank all of you for sharing the gift and for all the work you do for God. So in closing for the day I have got to say thank you with a Big Praise The Lord!

William (prisoner)
(In answer to the question, “What did you learn from this lesson?”) I would say besides being with our Lord and Savior, the greatest thing is what we as His children will be doing in Heaven. Seeing our Lord face to face – Singing a song of praise – Serving the Lord – Reigning with our King – Worshipping our King and Lord. I know that there will be no more pain, suffering, or diseases. No more violence and heartache. Christ is worthy of all worship. I learned we’ll be with our Lord FOREVER.

A poem witten by Michael
A True Friend
A friend is one who’s on your side.
Someone in whom you can confide.
One who consoles when you are sad,
And turns depressing days glad.
A friend is there through thick and thin,
Caring, concerned, and genuine.
A special someone with the gift,
To give your heavy heart a lift.
When you’re down and in despair,
A faithful friend is always there.
They do not scold or reprimand,
And always seem to understand.
So, if you have but one true friend,
To be there for you til the very end,
Thank the Lord and say a prayer,
You’re richer than a millionaire.

James (prisoner)
Thank you for the Christmas card. So few people take the time to send warm wishes to anyone. I just wanted you to know it was a real blessing to me again.

Alisha (child)
(This is a letter we received from a girl one month after she accepted Christ through the lessons.)
First of all thank you for the Bible. I read it all the time and when I was reading it, I found the Christmas story. Also in “The First Steps for Believers” slip, I read about all the things I need to do. Number 1 is Tell others about your salvation – I have happily told lots of people. Number 2 is Unite with a church – God did a big miracle and my whole family is going to church now. Number 3 is Believer’s baptism – I just got baptized. Number 4 is Study God’s Word – I have been studying the Bible you gave me. I feel so good to have a new life. Oh, and how many more lessons are there? (She is in Explorers 1, so there are many more to go.)

Robert (prisoner)
Thank you so much for your thought-provoking Bible Study. It has opened my eyes to some things and confirmed what I thought about others. I greatly appreciate your kind and generous giving of providing pre-paid envelopes to me. They help me tremendously. Thank you so much. Please continue to do what you are doing spreading God’s Word and His love. Your work for the Lord is having a great impact on many people’s lives, including mine. Thank you so much for praying for my prayer requests. Truly it is making a difference. May all of the staff at Source of Light Ministries have the merriest Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. God bless you and your families and may His Love, Grace, and Presence be with you all.

Brandon (prisoner)
Hello, I send you all a happy and hearty Merry Christmas and a very prosperous year. I thank you all and thank God for you all. You don’t know how blessed I feel every time your booklet comes under my door. I pray you all experience the overflow of God’s blessings.

Clarence (prisoner)
I want to thank the Source of Light Ministries for the encouragement as well as providing postage for the Bible Studies. As we come to the end and start of another year I want to wish you and your family God’s blessings.

Luis (Hispanic prisoner)
Now that I am reading God’s Word I have come to realize that I have to depend on Him and His love for me. As a result I want to give myself body and soul to Him. I also know that I am a constant sinner and I know that the Hand of God has reached me in that He has given me this lesson to turn to Him. I believe and repent of my sins and I believe that through His mercy He has forgiven me. I give thanks to God for turning you to me.

Joseph (prisoner)
First I thank Source of Light for helping me learn more about Jesus. You have been faithful to me for almost 2 years. You are doing a good job for God.
The lessons are very practical for me. The details of everyday life and what God expects hasn’t always been clear to me. Yet the Bible does have teachings on how to behave and this is the biggest lesson I have learned over the past few months in this course. As a Christian I am to share Christ and be an example of Him. God will enable me to carry out service for Him. The Lord gives me guidelines for my life and this is why the Bible is great. All my instructions are in His Word. Thanks for the practical, easy-to-understand, and profound teachings.

James (prisoner)
I just wanted to thank you again for what you are doing for me. I am able to see my life turning around. I am having more good in my life. My children have told me that they can see the changes in me. What you have been helping me do means the world to me. Everything you have done is greatly appreciated and this is coming from my heart. I hope to keep getting your notes at the end of my lessons. I hope you have wonderful holidays and the Lord keeps you safe. Thank you again.

Steven (prisoner)
I am writing to say thank you for the help, by allowing me to study the Bible. It means a lot to me. Also thank you so much for your prayers for me. I do appreciate your help and thank you again.

Jim (released prisoner)
For over three years you all have supplied me with Bible Studies, Bible tracts, and encouragement. Thanks to you my growth in Christ has flourished. I wanted you to know that. I am leaving the prison in December and going to my sister’s house. Please keep sending me the studies there. Again thank you for everything and if you would, please pray for me especially for a job and protection from all the evil that will be thrown at me.

Tanner (child)
Please pray that my sister Avery would not bite me any more.

Avery (Child)
Pray that my brother Tanner would say he is sorry when he hurts me.

I know that many of you that receive this work for SLM in some manner, This issue is to encourage you that your labors are not in vain. God is changing lives and they do appreciate your work.
