SLM Int. - Regions of Outreach: - South America - Argentina: ARGENTINA Milestones
The Country
From 0 to 22,834 feet (6,960 meters) above sea level, Argentina stretches over 1,068,000 square miles (2,766,000 km2) making it the second largest country in South America. The vast majority of the 36 million people are descendants of Europe or Russia. However, there is a sizable minority of native Americans and mestizos (those of mixed race). Only 7% of the people are evangelical Christians (believing in salvation by faith alone) while over 90% of the Argentines are nominal Roman Catholics. Religious freedom is promoted by separation of church and state while evangelicals are highly respected. The Missionary
